An Alabama company is busy recasting a group of cherubs for a fountain under renovation in St. Albans, Vermont.

The St. Albans Messenger reports the three cherubs are being recast in aluminum from the original molds from the Taylor Park Fountain, which dates back to 1887.

The originals were made from a zinc alloy and soldered together. Scott Howell of the Robinson Iron Corp. facility in Alexander City, Alabama, says the zinc is very hard to repair.

Four maidens and a water nymph decorating the fountain also will be recast.

Overall repair work to restore the fountain will take up to 1,200 hours of labor.

Plans are to return the fountain to the St. Albans park in the spring.
