The Passumpsic, Vermont, pit bull shot and wounded this month after attacking an animal control officer has been spared the death penalty.
The Caledonian Record reports the Barnet Board of Selectmen announced Tuesday that Reese will not be euthanized. But the dog must be confined at all times.
Darcie Nash was ordered to construct an outdoor enclosure for Reese within her pet's 10-day impoundment sentence.
Animal control officer Jo Guertin was attacked by Reese on Bridge Street while responding to a loose dog report May 10.
After leashing the loose pit bull, Reese bit Guertin on her forearm. When Reese went to attack again, Guertin shot and wounded the animal. After an investigation, officials found no fault with the shooting
Nash declined comment on Tuesday.
