State police have identified a skier who struck a tree and died in Vermont's remote Northeast Kingdom.

It happened Friday afternoon at Q Burke Mountain. State police say 27-year-old woman Seleste Fenoff from St. Johnsbury left the groomed portion of a trail and struck a tree.

After she failed to meet up with her skiing partner, the ski patrol was notified. The ski patrol found Fenoff on the trail. She was wearing a helmet.

State police say the death appears to be accidental, though the investigation continues. An autopsy will be performed.
