We officially have a heat wave in Boston, the second one of the season. We may add another 90 degree day on Wednesday before a cold front moves through.
We have another First Alert Day issued for Wednesday with the heat, humidity and scattered rain and thunderstorms.
A few storms and showers have popped up, but more widespread storms will move into northwestern New England tonight. A severe thunderstorm watch continues for all of Vermont, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, and for northewest Connecticut until 9 p.m.
U.S. & World
A cold front will continue to be draped across the north country and it will sink to the southeast slowly overnight into Wednesday. The scattered rain and storm chances reach southern New England by Wednesday afternoon as they develop during the heat of the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the low 90s with heat index values in the mid 90s prior to the rain.
Drier air will slowly sink southward Thursday and this will also bring cooler temperatures and sunshine to the northeast as we wrap up the work week. Highs will be in the low 80s Thursday and Friday with lower dewpoints especially in northern New England.
The weekend will be dry overall. Highs in the low 80s Saturday, mid 80s Sunday with sunshine both days. There is a chance for a pop up shower or storm across the mountains in the heat of the afternoon.
Highs stay in the low to mid 80s next week, with a chance for scattered storms and showers every day beginning on Tuesday.
