Man Gets Up to 10 Years in Prison for Molesting Girl

Hickman was arrested in Georgia based on DNA evidence in 2017

A Massachusetts resident has been sentenced for molesting a 5-year-old girl.

55-year-old James Hickman was sentenced Thursday to up to 10 years in prison, according to The Sun Chronicle.

Prosecutors say he molested the little girl in her Attleboro home in June 2016.

This comes after his conviction in Fall River Superior Court earlier this week on charges of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14 and committing unnatural acts on a child under 16.

Hickman was arrest based on DNA evidence in 2017 in Georgia.

Ted Koban, Hickman's lawyer argued for a two-year prison sentence as his client denies any wrongdoing.

Authorities say he faced similar charges in 2003 involving a 9-year-old girl. The case was eventually dropped by prosecutors because she wasn't able to testify.
