A man has died after being shot in front of a store in Hartford on Friday night. It is the city's first homicide of the year, police said.

Authorities said they were called to Capen Street just before 6:30 p.m. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound in front of J&R 2 Bodega.

Crews performed CPR on the man, later identified as 36-year-old Dominique Lino. Lino was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police say they believe the shooting was targeted and gunshots came from a group of men seen walking in the area. Multiple shell casings were found at the scene, according to authorities.

Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said the department will now begin their investigation. Officers plan to knock on doors, search cameras and try to find witnesses.
