Men Seen Prowling on Home Surveillance Camera

A neighborhood is on alert in Westborough, Massachusetts, after two Worcester men were caught on home surveillance prowling through yards and breaking into cars early Thursday morning.

"It's unnerving especially around here," said one neighbor.

It was also especially unnerving for the correctional officer who was at work at the time, viewing the video on on his phone.

The burglars were in his driveway and backyard while his wife and kids were home sleeping.

"It's crazy. It's great they were able to catch it on the camera," said another neighbor who lives along Arch Street.

That correctional officer called police.

Police say two of the suspects are 19-year-old Edward Gale and 21-year-old Davon Smith.

Both are now facing numerous charges including breaking and entering.

Police say they were able to track the suspects down down in a stolen car.

A pursuit then ensued until the suspects crashed in Grafton, near Tufts University's Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.

Police say the two then took off and were found hiding in the woods.

Neighbors said Friday that they're thankful for the alert correctional officer who saw his camera detect motion and called police.

"I was scared. I was scared it could happen this close by. Making sure everything is locked up at night," said Julie McCoy.

Police say they retrieved a pellet gun near where the suspects ran off.

They also say a third suspect is still at large.
