Police Pursuit Ends in Crash in New Haven

A police pursuit that began in West Haven has ended in a serious crash in New Haven.

West Haven police said officers were attempting to pull over a 1998 Honda Civic with three occupants in the car around 12:19 p.m. and led police in a pursuit into the City of New Haven.

The Honda Civic, driven by Christopher Villot, was traveling northbound on Ella Grasso Boulevard near its intersection with Derby Avenue (Route 34) when it struck a 2005 Volvo S40. 

Villot drove away from the intersection after hitting the Volo and hit a metal beam guardrail before stopping, getting out of the Honda Civic and running away from the scene. 

The 21-year-old driver was located and treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The other two people in the Honda Civic were also treated at Yale-New Haven for minor injuries.

The driver of the Volvo was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. 

The road reopened at 5:10 p.m. after being shut down for more than four hours.
