Smith has tweaked his Fox News colleagues before, including Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly, which makes the early evening anchor a hero to those who hate FOX News and watch it constantly because they love to hate it so.
Well, Smith is at it once more. Last night, while covering the New Jersey governor’s race, Smith threw to field correspondent Shannon Bream to interview Republican candidate Chris Christie, who I presume runs on a very Chris-heavy platform.
Once the interview was finished, Smith chided Bream and his network for not giving Democratic candidate Jon Corzine face time as well. Here’s a transcript of the exchange.
Shep: When will you be interviewing Jon Corzine?
Shannon: (pauses awkwardly) We have in multiple requests, and when it comes through, we’ll let you know.
Shep: Well, thank you very much, Shannon Bream. Um, wow. I didn’t know that was about to happen. My apologies for the lack of balance there. If I had had control, it wouldn’t have happened.
OH, SNAP! There goes Shep again, sabotaging the evil FOX warship from the inside! Blogs all over the place have scooped up this clip. The left-leaning sites are engorged because it finally shows a FOX anchor admitting the channel lacks balance, something anyone can ascertain within five milliseconds of turning on the channel.
But if you think the rightly-leaning are going to take this kind of insubordination lying down, you probably forged your birth certificate to become President. From the comment section over at Hot Air:
It is time for the token Fox liberal to join his buddies at MSNBC…
Shep’s disloyalty to his company would get him fired at any other business…
Shep is merely pre-selling his leftist capitulation to the fairness doctrine. This is not the first time the dog has wandered into the neighbors yard -let them feed the ornery cur.
U.S. & World
Oooh, cur! Love that word. Makes me feel like I’m a pirate.
Anyway, Smith does this sort of thing now and again. He's still the early evening anchor whose importance to the network is inconsequential compared to that of Hannity, Beck, and O’Reilly. Nothing Smith says is going to change the ethos of FOX News. Like most media criticism, it's just another beach ball for political nutjobs to bat around. Have fun, kids!
