At the new Moxy hotel in Boston’s Theater District, guests aren’t guests — they’re “fun hunters.” Selfie walls and other multicolored murals are eminently Instagrammable. And if a giant stuffed unicorn shows up in your room, you can bring it down to the second-floor Bar Moxy for a free drink.
The 340-room, 24-story hotel opens Friday at the corner of Stuart and Tremont streets, directly across from the luxury W Boston hotel. The sister properties are both owned by Marriott International, though if the W is a glamorous grown-up heading to a black-tie gala, Moxy is a kid sister chilling on a pillow emblazoned with “Be a badass...” before heading out to a nightclub.
“Our main job is to get them to have fun,” Dustin Kovats, Moxy’s general manager, said of the property’s “fun hunters” while on a recent tour of the hotel.
