Bombing Suspect Met With Former Chechen Rebel Before Attacks

(NECN: Justin Michaels) - We're learning more this about a former Chechen rebel who now lives in Manchester, N.H. The FBI says Tamerlan Tsarnaev met with this man less than a month before carrying out the attack at the Boston Marathon finish line.

His name is Musa Khadjimuradov, and the FBI has searched his home, taken DNA samples and also his fingerprints. They had federal warrants to do the search. The reason for this is because the former Chechen rebel says he had several contacts with the bombing suspect in the past several years.

However Khadjimuradov has not been charged with anything and has not even contacted a lawyer.

He spoke with Voice of America about his contact with the FBI and with the older bombing suspect brother.

When asked, "Did he ever talk to you about what's going on in Chechnya and Dagestan,” he said, "Nothing. Never. He never talking about the religious, politics, or anything like that to me."

Agents questioned him about Tsarnaev going to a Manchester, N.H. shooting range and also buying fireworks in the weeks leading up to the Boston Marathon bombings.

Khadjimuradov says Tsarnaev really only ever talked to him about his family, his wife, Katherine Russell, who herself is now under the federal surveillance, but he says never anything about the bombings.
