Family of 5 Displaced Following Quincy, Mass. Fire

(NECN) – Units responded to a two alarm fire at 139 West Squantum Street in Quincy, Mass. on Saturday morning.

The five occupants inside the single-family residence were displaced.

Of the five, three of the residents were transported to area hospital, including a 14-month-old baby who was treated and released for smoke inhalation.

The nature of the other patients’ injuries is unknown, but they are still being treated at hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of the blaze was a space heater on porch. The fire extended into the home.

It took about an hour for units to get fire under control. The fire department cleared the scene at about 7am, but the investigators remained on scene.

It is estimated that damage will amount to around $200,000. The home is currently uninhabitable.
