3 RI Beaches Closed to Swimmers Due to Bacteria

Health officials say they will monitor the water quality and reopen the beaches once bacteria levels are safe

Rhode Island health officials have closed beaches in Middletown, Warwick and Warren to swimmers because of high bacteria counts in the water.

The state Department of Health on Tuesday recommended the closure to swimming of Atlantic Beach Club Beach in Middletown, Goddard Memorial State Park Beach in Warwick and Warren Town Beach in Warren.

Health officials say they will monitor the water quality and reopen the beaches once bacteria levels are safe.

The state regularly monitors water quality at beaches throughout the summer months to ensure safe conditions for swimmers.
