8-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured in Zip Line Accident at Maine Campground

A young boy was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a zip line accident at a campground in Winslow, Maine.

Police said the 8-year-old was using a zip line at Camp Caribou when he slipped off and hit his head on a metal rowboat.

The boy was taken to Maine General in Augusta by ambulance, then by medical helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Authorities said he is recovering with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said due to the zip line being classified as a mechanical ride in Maine, the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office was notified to investigate.
