Apple Rejects FBI Request to Unlock Phone in Boston Gang Case

A search warrant was approved in February for two phones belonging to Desmond Crawford

The FBI is asking Apple Inc. to unlock the phone of an alleged Boston gang member, but Apple is objecting to the request, according to the Boston Globe.

A search warrant was approved in February for two phones belonging to Desmond Crawford.

Crawford is allegedly in the Columbia Point Dawgs and possibly shot a rival gang leader.

The FBI believes the phones likely contained information related to the shooting and gang details.

Apple's opposition to the request was signaled in a case in Brooklyn, where documents said Apple objected to a request to unlock a phone in a case in Massachusetts.
