Bank Robbery Suspect Seriously Injured in Crash

A man accused of robbing a bank Wednesday in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, was seriously injured in a crash when police say he was fleeing from them in Bedford Thursday.

Thirty-eight-year-old Jason Jewett of Littleton was named a suspect in the robbery of a Citizen's Bank branch in Chelmsford. Thurday morning, police determined he was in Nashua, New Hampshire. According to authorities, a Chelmsford Police inspector was driving to the Granite State to find him when he saw Jewett's car on Route 3 in Chelmsford.

When police tried to stop Jewett, they said he sped away, losing control and crashing into a tree on Middlesex Turnpike near the Billerica line.

Jewett was transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The charges in the bank robbery are pending, but police confirm Jewett faces charges for driving with a revoked licensee, driving to endanger, failure to stop for police and marked lanes violations.
