A body was found in Taunton, Massachusetts, on Saturday, according to authorities.
Two people who were canoeing in the Taunton River around 7:40 p.m. made the discovery and called police.
The body was identified as male of approximately 40 years old. It had apparently been in the water for an extended period of time.
When it was spotted, the body was floating in debris in the area between Power Street and Duffy Drive, parallel to Rte-44. Its location was initially difficult to access for police.
Eventually, the Taunton Police Dive Team was able to retrieve it after entering the water from upriver.
The medical examiner is currently working to determine a cause of death.
