Bomb Threat Believed To Be Hoax Under Investigation in Maynard, Massachusetts

Resident in Maynard, Massachusetts, found shotgun shells with alleged terrorism messages on them

Massachusetts State Police are working with federal authorities to investigate a bomb threat in Maynard, believed to be a hoax.

Police received a call just before 6 p.m. from a resident who found shotgun shells in a bag on the sidewalk in front of her house. Authorities said messages were written on the shells which made references to terrorism and an alleged bomb planted on a bus.

The Massachusetts State Police Fusion Center and federal authorities were notified.

Authorities said all four of the town's school buses were thoroughly searched and nothing was found.

The shotgun shells were taken by state police.

"While we believe this incident is most likely a hoax, we are taking it very seriously and conducting a thorough investigation, utilizing all of the resources at our disposal," said Maynard Police Lt. Michael Noble. "We will prosecute those responsible."
