A disturbing scene played out in the middle of a busy neighborhood in Lawrence, Massachusetts just after noon on Tuesday.
Two men were fighting on the sidewalk, and it ended with a gunshot.
"Nobody knew there was a gun involved until somebody came up to me and told me there’s a gun,” said a woman who witnessed the confrontation.
She did not want to be identified.
The two men were fighting on the ground and then they got up. One man took a swing, and then the other fired a gun.
The shooter scrambled away, getting into a White Infiniti and taking off.

The 46-year-old victim was shot in the leg.
“He was bleeding all over his leg,” said the woman. “It's unbelievable the way that this happened right in our face, like we saw everything.”
Police say this was not a random attack. They say there’s been bad blood between the two in the past and Tuesday's incident may have started with fighting on the road.
“We believe the two men may have been on the streets jockeying for position,” said Lawrence Police Chief Roy Vasque. “There appears to be some sort of history there.”
The troubling scene took place on Lawrence Street in a bustling neighborhood with businesses and homes.
“It’s so embarrassing the way that all this happened,” said the woman.
Police say they do have solid leads in the case.
The suspect took off in a 2008 White Infiniti with license plate 5JY925.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Nobody else was hurt.
The shooting remains under investigation.
