A Ferrisburgh, Vermont, woman involved in a crash that killed a 60-year-old bicyclist last month has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge.
Thirty-six-year-old Holly Gonyeau pleaded not guilty Monday in Vermont Superior Court in Middlebury.
The family of Kenneth Najarian of Charlotte has said Gonyeau should face a felony charge. But prosecutors and police say the evidence supports the current one.
Najarian was killed June 17 when he was riding his bicycle in Ferrisburgh. Police say he pulled a U-turn on his bike in front of Gonyeau's car after another car heading southbound passed him.
Court records show two hours after the crash, Gonyeau had a blood-alcohol content of .087 and had taken prescription pills.
The Najarians' lawyer says they are having an independent investigation of the crash conducted.
