Vermont police have given a final salute to a 28-year-old state trooper who collapsed at a firing range in Jericho and later died.
The Burlington Free Press reports the body of Kyle Young left Burlington Saturday heading for his hometown of Watertown, N.Y.
Young, of Monkton, suffered a medical event causing him to collapse during training at the Ethan Allen Firing Range on Sept. 17. He was pronounced dead at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Police say a funeral Mass is tentatively planned for Wednesday with visiting hours on Tuesday.
Gov. Peter Shumlin ordered the state flag to fly at half-staff for three days starting on the day of the funeral.
An autopsy was conducted on Friday. No results were released.
