Father Accused of Child Abuse Held on $200K Bail

A father from Hardwick, Massachusetts, accused of child abuse has pleaded not guilty and is being held on $200,000 bail.

Randall Lints, who appeared in court Wednesday, was indicted last month for the abuse and reckless neglect of his 7-year-old son. Those alleged activities lead to what the prosecution calls "grave injury to the child."

Lints, 26, was indicted on two counts of assault and battery on a child causing substantial bodily injury, two counts of permitting substantial bodily injury to a child, and one count of reckless endangerment of a child.

The injuries were alleged to have happened between June 30, 2014 when Lints was granted custody of the boy and July 14, when police were called to his home and discovered the 7-year-old unresponsive. At the time the boy weighed only 38 pounds and he had bruises all over his body.

The boy was taken to Mary Lane Hospital in Ware and then Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He is now being treated in a long-term care facility.

Lints’ girlfriend, Alexandrea Chadwick, is also due in court. She is also charged with recklessly endangering in abusing the 7-year-old. Chadwick will likely not be in court today for the status hearing.

Lints is due back in court Nov. 18.
