A former Massachusetts high school career counselor has been sentenced to more than three years probation following her conviction of two counts of child rape.
Jenna Tarabelsi, 33, of Waltham, was convicted in Middlesex Superior Court on Thursday, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
Tarabelsi previously worked as a career counselor at Medford Vocational Technical High School from April 2012 to April 2015.
The district attorney said during Tarabelsi's time at the school, she befriended a 15-year-old male student. In early 2014, that student was sexually assaulted by Tarabelsi in a parking lot in Stoneham after school had ended.
When school officials learned of the assault in April 2015, Tarabelsi was suspended.
As a result of the conviction, Tarabelsi has been ordered to undergo sex offender counseling treatment, to undergo a mental health evaluation, to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet, and to have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16. She has also been ordered to stay away from and have no contact with the victim and his family.
