Jury selection is underway in the trial for a fatal car crash into a West Newton restaurant in 2016.

Jury selection has begun for the man who killed two people when he crashed his vehicle into a Sweet Tomatoes restaurant in 2016.

Brad Casler, 55, was charged with two counts of motor vehicle homicide for the West Newton crash. The incident killed 57-year-old Eleanor Miele of Watertown and 32-year-old Gregory Morin of Newton. Seven other people were also injured in the crash.

Casler and his lawyers have previously rejected a number of plea deals, including one that would have sent him to prison for two years. He suffers from multiple sclerosis and his attorneys say it played a factor in the deadly crash.

His fate will now be in the hands of a jury, one which is in the process of being selected among a pool of 85 potential jurors.
