Police in Maine are investigating whether snowy roads may have played a role in a fatal crash that involved a box truck and a pickup.

One person was killed in a crash on Route 3 in Liberty in front of Lake St. George State Park around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to state police. Snowfall reached up to 9 feet in Maine following northern New England's storm.

The name of the person who was killed was not immediately released. It's unclear if there were other reported injuries in the crash.

Traffic on Route 3 was rerouted as troopers investigate the fatal crash.
