Nearly a year after the death of her 1-year-old daughter, a Maine woman has reportedly been arrested on charges of endangering her child after authorities determined the toddler died of a fentanyl overdose.
Bangor resident Kimberly Nelligan, 33, was arrested Tuesday in connection to the Oct. 19, 2018, death of her daughter, according to News Center Maine.
Emergency responders recieved a call of an unresponsive toddler last October and performed CPR on the girl when they arrived. She was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she died.
A post-mortem examination determined the girl’s cause of death was the probable toxic effects of fentanyl, News Center Maine reports. It is unclear how the toddler ingested the drug.
In addition to the child endangerment charge, Nelligan faces an additional charge of drug possession from the time of her arrest. She is being held without bail at Penobscot County Jail.
