Man Critically Injured After Being Struck by Train at Yawkey Station

A man was critically injured when he was struck by an MBTA train at Yawkey Station in Boston's Fenway/Kenmore neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.

MBTA Transit Police said the incident happened around 4 p.m. on the Worcester-Framingham commuter rail line. The man was taken to Beth Israel Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the man, who is in his 20s, somehow fell off the platform and was hit by a moving train. The man has been transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews are continuing to investigate.

Officials said inbound service was impacted on the commuter rail line, but outbound service was not affected. Yawkey Station reopened around 5 p.m., but delays had been reported for about an hour.

The 500-plus passengers on the Worcester line were transferred to another train with minor delays.

Transit and Suffolk County Police are investigating the incident but do not suspect foul play.
