    School officials in Milton, Massachusetts, say an elementary school staff member is on leave due to an unspecified allegation.

    Superintendent Mary Gormley of Milton Public Schools confirms the worker in question works at Cunningham Elementary School.

    "The name of the employee and the nature of the allegation cannot be released," the district said in a statement. "There is nothing more important than the safety and security of Milton Public Schools' students; therefore, all allegations are taken seriously."

    The district says it is cooperating with police in an investigation.
