More Massachusetts communities were sprayed for mosquitoes Wednesday, with further treatment planned across the Bay State.

A second round of aerial spraying was conducted Wednesday in Plymouth County and Bristol County, a process that began earlier this month. Officials said the spray zone was similar to the first round, but added the towns of Attleboro, Mansfield, Marshfield and a small part of Abington.

Additionally, spraying will begin Sunday in parts of Worcester County and Middlesex County, expected to continue for several evenings. Grafton, Southborough, Westborough and Marlborough will be entirely within the spray zone, along with parts of Worcester, Berlin, Milford, Millbury, Northbridge, Northborough, Shrewsbury, Sutton, Upton, Ashland, Framingham, Hopkinton and Sudbury.

Health officials have been spraying as a preventative measure to decrease the chances of EEE and West Nile virus from spreading. The mosquito-borne viruses are rare, but can be potentially fatal.
