NECN Launches New Political Show, ‘Primary Source,' on Monday, Sept. 9

The hour-long program airs live, Monday through Friday, with host Brian Shactman and contributor Sue O’Connell

On Monday, Sept. 9, NECN is launching a new, hour-long live political program, "Primary Source," at 7 p.m.

In time for the presidential primary season, Primary Source will replace "NECN News at 7 p.m." and will air Monday through Friday.

Ben Dobson, vice president of news for NBC10 Boston, NECN and Telemundo Boston, announced the host of "Primary Source" will be NBC10 Boston and NECN anchor Brian Shactman.

"Politics is a passion of Brian’s, and he has covered the political world extensively, notably for his work on 'Morning Joe' on MSNBC," Dobson said. "Brian is willing to experiment with the traditional political show format and help invent something new.”

Sue O’Connell, previously of NECN’s "The Take," will contribute to the show.

"Primary Source" will showcase a wide range of commentators, guests, personal stories and candidates, and will jump into the New Hampshire action as we head into the highly anticipated presidential primary season.
