One Person Injured in Helicopter Crash in Vermont

One man has been transported to a hospital with minor injuries after a helicopter crashed in Vermont.

According to Vermont State Police, they received a report of an aircraft crash at the Franklin County Airport in Highgate, Vermont at about 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

A small, one seater helicopter had crashed in a field not far from the runway. The pilot, Chandler Ede, 60, of Highgate, was transported to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans for minor injuries, police said.

No one else was in the helicopter.

According to police, their investigation so far indicates Ede was hovering approximately 15 feet off the ground when a gust of wind caused him to lose control and crash to the ground.

The police reported the incident to the FAA who plan to respond to the scene on Monday to investigate further.
