PD: Man ‘Violently' Assaults MBTA Officer

The incident happened at the Harvard Square Station around 3:30 p.m.

MBTA Transit Police say a man violently assaulted a Transit Police officer at an MBTA station Monday.

The incident happened at the Harvard Square Station around 3:30 p.m.

Police say Travis Artist, 36, tried to evade the fare was cited for fare evasion. After allegedly causing a disturbance, he was removed from the station.

Artist allegedly went back into the station and attacked the officer after the officer tried to remove him from the station again.

During the assault, the officer was struck in the face multiple times and was stuck by an uncapped needle.

Artist is set to be arraigned for assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and trespassing.
