Plane Crashes in Woods

No one was injured

No one was injured when a plane crash landed in the woods in Granville, Massachusetts, on Sunday afternoon.

Around 2:10 p.m., Massachusetts State Police received a 911 call from the pilot of a single-engine airplane reporting that he had crash landed in the woods near Timber Doodle Road in Granville. The pilot was the only occupant and was not injured. No one on the ground was injured. The plane sustained heavy damage as a result of the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration responded to the scene to assist state and local police in the crash investigation.

According to the FAA, the plane was a Piper PA 28, and it crashed afer the pilot reported engine problems. The flight had departed from Floyd Bennet Memorial Airport in Glens Falls, New York, and was headed to Norwood Memorial Airport in Massachusetts. The pilot was trying to divert to Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Massachusetts when the aircraft went down.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation. No further information was immediately available.
