Police are looking for a suspect accused of striking an officer Friday night in Billerica, Massachusetts, and dragging him with a van.
According to Billerica Police, two officers were investigating suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Rite Aid on Boston Road when they approached the van around 7:45 p.m. Police say the driver, believed to be 28-year-old Eric Oblenis of Billerica, was injecting something into his arm. When he saw police approach, he allegedly threw the needle on the floor and drove in reverse.
The van struck the officer and dragged him about 15 feet.
The officer was hosptalized. His injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
Authorities have issued a be-on-the-lookout for a green Dodge Ram Van with Rhode Island plates reading "IY888." The suspect, a slender male, had a red flat-brim baseball hat and a red sweatshirt at the time of the incident.
Billerica Police also released a surveillance photo of a man believed to have been a passenger in the van.
