Police: Woman Arrested for Defacing Trump Sign, Assaulting Homeowner

North Reading woman is charged with 4 counts of defacing property and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon

A woman was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly vandalizing a Donald Trump campaign sign, then nearly running over a homeowner.

Andover Police said Susan Bryant, 57, of North Reading, was allegedly caught by a Jenkins Road homeowner vandalizing his campaign sign with spray paint. The homeowner told police Bryant then drove off erratically, causing him to jump out of the way of her moving vehicle.

"I came up behind her, about 15 feet behind her, and I said, 'What's the matter, don't you like Trump,'" said the homeowner. "And with that she threw some stuff into the back of her car, got in the car and drove down the dirt road."

Police arrested Bryant and charged her with four counts of defacing property and one count of assault by means of a dangerous weapon. Authorities said she is allegedly responsible for other sign defacing at the same property.

Bryant will be arraigned Monday in Lawrence District Court.
