We are right on the edge of some bitter cold air over the Great Lakes and southeastern Canada. A weak frontal boundary across northern New England generates occasional light snow or snow showers for the ski areas north and west.

For lower elevations toward the ocean, we have an equal amount of clouds and sunshine. Saturday is the colder day with high temperatures near 15 degrees north, to near 30 degrees south. It is colder up in the sky so if you’re skiing, probably about five to 10 degrees around 3000 feet.

A warm front moves in Saturday night and Sunday, with a better chance for a light accumulating snow in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The wind will also pick up from the south adding an extra chill. High temperature tomorrow in the 20s north, 30s to low 40s in the south.

A cold front will cross from north to south tomorrow night with a few flurries all the way to the ocean. Monday we’re all back on the cold side with a high temperature in the single numbers north to the 20s south.

A storm forming off Florida should miss the east on Monday and Tuesday. A bitter low pressure system in the Great Lakes will slowly advance on Tuesday.

As long as those two storms stay separate, the coastal area should remain dry through at least the beginning of Tuesday.

Snow likely develops across western Massachusetts and Vermont Tuesday, and spreads east at night and into Wednesday. The mountains may end up with a double digit snowfall, with a few inches likely at the coast, as much colder air comes back in Wednesday.

Highs Tuesday in the 20s north and 30s south. Temperatures falling into the teens south and single numbers north Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday and Friday features air possibly as cold as we saw last Sunday and Monday. Temperatures may have a tough time getting much above 10 degrees in southern New England and sub-zero at night.
