Revere, Mass. Man Arrested for Assaulting Girl on MBTA Orange Line Platform

A Revere, Massachusetts man was arrested at an MBTA platform on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a girl under the age of 14 thanks to the help of a good Samaritan.

Transit police responded to a call of a minor who was indecently assaulted at 10:50 a.m. at the Orange Line’s Downtown Crossing platform.

Michael Brooks, 44, was arrested after a witness refused to let him leave the scene.

According to the good Samaritan, Brooks was staring at the victim while traveling on the train with such intensity that it made him suspicious and uncomfortable.

After the train stopped at the Downtown Crossing station, the suspect allegedly followed behind the girl and her mother as they exited the train.

Brooks then assaulted the minor, according to the good Samaritan. The good Samaritan kept Brooks from fleeing the area until officials arrived.

"The Transit Police are extremely grateful to the male passenger who assisted in this ugly incident," MBTA Transit Police said in a statement.
