3 Adults, 4 Children Injured in Crash

A major crash occurred in Georgetown, Massachusetts, on Sunday afternoon, injuring three adults and four children and causing a section of Interstate 95 to shut down temporarily.

A vehicle was traveling northbound on I-95 near exit 54 around 1:45 p.m. when it crossed the center median and struck another vehicle head-on, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Three vehicles were involved. One person, a woman in her 30s or 40s, was seriously injured and medflighted from the scene to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Two other adults and four children were transported to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport and Merrimac Valley Hospital in Haverhill. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The Georgetown Fire Chief initially declared the crash as a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident due to the amount of victims.

The highway has since re-opened. Massachusetts State Police are investigating.
