Police Asking for Public's Help in Finding Jewelry Store Thief

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Sharon police

Authorities in Massachusetts are asking for the public's help finding a thief who stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a jewelry store.

Sharon police say the break-in and theft happened Sunday morning at Saloman Jewelry and Repair.

"It took him less than ten seconds," said owner and goldsmith Richard Saloman.

Surveillance images show the suspect wearing a red coat over a gray hoodie, a white baseball cap, with navy blue basketball shorts and headphones.

Saloman said the thief parked his car around the corner, and around 7 a.m., paced back and forth for forty minutes.

After smashing through the front door with a piece of asphalt, the thief smashed a case of gold chains — taking a number of them worth an estimated $15,000.

"The glass was everywhere, fortunately he didn't smash any of the other cases and just ran out with the gold chains," Saloman said.

Area pawn shops have been notified in the event the chains turn up.

"For gold stores, we've put out the call to everyone we know to keep an eye out for him, and anybody who turns up with a lot of chains, we'd like to hear from them," Saloman said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sharon police at 781-784-1586 and refer to case No. 426331.
