A Massachusetts man with a suspended license faced a judge on Friday after he allegedly hit a 14-year-old girl with his car in Revere, Massachusetts, while she and her friends were on their way to trick-or-treat.

Lynn resident Wilvins Rosirus, 32, was charged with speeding and operating on a suspended license Friday in Chelsea District Court. He was released on $250 bail. The judge said he cannot drive without a valid license.

Outside court, Rosirus apologized saying he is a father himself.

"I'm... I'm really sorry," Rosirus said. "I don't even know what happened to be honest with you."

Rosirus was arrested Thursday following the pedestrian crash, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. The girl was crossing American Legion Highway with a group of friends at about 8:15 p.m. when she was struck, authorities said.

"She walked ahead of us, the car was speeding and it hit her," witness Aya Beno said.

Prosecutors said Rosirus had a green light at the time of the crash and that he stopped and called 911.

"I've been informed that the defendant was cooperative with police and actually consented to both a search of both his car as well as a forensic analysis of his cellphone," Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Myriam Feliz said in court.

The group had been making its way to an MBTA stop to go to Boston when the crash happened.

"I felt like it was my sister that got hit by a car. I didn't think it was going to happen," one of the teen's friends said.

Another witness said: "I honestly can’t stop thinking about it. I can't stop thinking about it."

The girl, who has not been identified, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. She is in stable condition, according to the DA.

Prosecutors say additional, more serious charges were not brought against Rosirus based on their investigation. The intersection is dangerous and is often crowded with cars and kids from nearby Revere High School.

"I just feel bad about what happened," Rosirus said.

It's unclear when Rosirus is due back in court.
