Federal authorities say a member of an international criminal gang has pleaded guilty in connection with the stabbing of a rival gang member last year.
U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz's office says 29-year-old Mauricio Sanchez of Chelsea, Massachusetts, was one of 61 individuals named in a January indictment targeting the alleged criminal activity of MS-13 gang members in the state.
Authorities say Sanchez admitted Friday that he and other MS-13 members stabbed a gang rival near Bellingham Square in Chelsea in December 2015. He pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy.
He's facing up to 20 years when he's sentenced on Dec. 22.
MS-13 has over 6,000 members in the U.S. and over 30,000 members internationally, mainly in El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.
