Wareham Police Search for Suspect Who Nearly Struck Officer With Vehicle

The Wareham Police Department is searching for 29-year-old Jazz Tavares, who allegedly nearly struck an officer with his vehicle

Wareham police are seeking the public’s help in finding a suspect accused of nearly hitting an officer with a vehicle intentionally Monday in Wareham.

Officer Charles Pillsbury was working an off-duty detail when he saw 29-year-old Jazz Tavares driving with a female passenger. The officer, knowing that the suspect was driving with a revoked license, motioned to Tavares to pull over.

Pillsbury called for backup at approximately 10:50 a.m. after Tavares allegedly accelerated his vehicle aggressively, prompting the officer to run out of the way to avoid being hit.

Responding officers pulled the same vehicle over minutes after the initial encounter and found the female passenger driving without the suspect in sight. The woman, 26-year-old Kristina Boucher-Szwedko, was arrested after she allegedly failed to cooperate.

Two young children were removed from the vehicle and released to a family member who responded to the scene.

Tavares was arrested in 2014 for being in possession of a stolen firearm, according to the Wareham Police Department.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Tavares is asked to contact Wareham police at 508-295-1212.
