Convenience Store Clerk Accused of Indecently Assaulting Customer
    Ahmad Ali

A Massachusetts convenience store clerk was scheduled to face a judge Wednesday after being accused of indecently assaulting a female customer in Webster.

Twenty-year-old Worcester resident Ahmad Ali was charged with indecent assault and battery, lewd and lascivious conduct, and assault and battery.

Police arrested Ali on Sunday after responding to a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a customer at Gilbert's Market on North Main Street at about 2:30 p.m.

The woman, who was not identified, told police she went to the store to buy scratch-off lottery tickets and went back to her car where she scratched them and saw she won a prize. Upon returning to the store to purchase additional tickets with her winnings, she allegedly told the clerk, Ali, that it was her birthday and then returned to her car.

Margaret Newsum, 93, had no idea that the Camp Fire was rapidly approaching her Magalia home until her caretaker left for the day and she turned on the television. She was quickly rescued by her friend Dane Ray Cummings, who decided to break company policy and rescue Newsum with his Waste Management truck. KCRA reports.

The victim said while sitting in her car, Ali motioned for her to come back to the store where he gave her more tickets and wished her a happy birthday. That's when the victim said he gave her a hug. As she tried to leave, Ali allegedly pulled her back and rubbed up against her.

The victim was able to pull away, leave the store and call the police.

Police said store surveillance was able to corroborate the victim’s account.

In November 2016, Ali was found not guilty of indecent assault and battery in an unrelated case when a 13-year-old girl accused him of putting his hands around her and kissing her, according to The Telegram. However, he was put on probation for assault and battery in connection with that case.
