What We Know About the East Boston Police Shooting Suspect

His roommates say he claimed to have an extensive weapons collection

As authorities continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting in East Boston, necn is learning new details about the suspect who was killed in the ensuing gunfight.

The suspect, who has been identified as Kirk Figueroa, 33, of East Boston, was a bounty hunter who lived with two other roommates on Gladstone Street and, according to his website, offered security and private investigation services. He was also a sworn constable, according to city officials.

His website also details his military service and touts his communication and interpersonal skills in getting the job done. He served as an Army Reservist from 2003 to 2011.

Figueroa's brother, Konrad, had not spoken to the suspect in some time, but he told necn Thursday that he was "terrified" by his alleged actions.

"Life is prcious and we understand what those families are going through," Konrad Figueroa said. "I just want the families to know that we are praying for them and that we are sorry that this happened to them."

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said Kirk Figueroa did not have a criminal record in Massachusetts, but did have a record in other states, including charges of arson and impersonating a police officer.

His roommates say he claimed to have an extensive weapons collection.

necn has learned that Figueroa got into a heated argument with one of his roommates, which became physical with several punches thrown and the suspect threatening this roommate with a knife.

This roommate called police, and a third roommate was evacuated from the residence's second floor as police entered the home.

The third roommate described hearing the suspect yelling and hearing between "30 to 50" shots.

Neither of the suspect's roommates were injured in the shooting.
