Martha Coakley Goes on the Record After Massachusetts Governor Race Primary Win

Martha Coakley faces Republican Charlie Baker and three independent candidates in November

Martha Coakley repeated a pledge last Tuesday night to work harder than anyone else in the Massachusetts gubernatorial race as she celebrated a 6-point win over Steve Grossman, her closest rival in the Democratic primary.

She's now facing Republican Charlie Baker and three independent candidates in November's election, which polls say is up for grabs.

Coakley says her message of building a prosperous and fair Massachusetts is resonating with voters.

"I am excited about the possibilities for Massachusetts, both on the economic side and on the personal side," she said.

She says her vision for Massachusetts puts her apart from Baker, he main opponent.

"I'm going to be a voice for people who don't always have one. I think that's a huge difference between me and Charlie Baker," she said.

Coakley also disagrees with Baker's assertion that she would run up the state's deficit.

"There's lot of ways, when we front end load help for people, we're going to cut the way we spend money," she said.
