Former Senator Ted Stevens Killed in Alaska Plane Crash

(NECN: RD Sahl) - Former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens is among those killed in a plane crash in Alaska.

There were believed to be nine people aboard the plane.

It crashed in a remote part of southwestern Alaska, killing five people.

Ex-NASA chief Sean O'Keefe was also believed to be aboard, but
it was unclear whether he was among the dead.

Rescuers arrived on helicopter early Tuesday and were giving
medical care to survivors, Alaska National Guard spokesman Maj. Guy
Hayes said.
