As Massachusetts voters face a series of issues in ballot questions, Jim Braude will look at each one on Broadside this week.
Monday, the bottle bill expansion question is analyzed.
Janet Domenitz of the Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group argued in favor of the expansion while Nicole Giambusso of No on Question 2 argued against it.
"If you care about litter, you care about recycling, either one ... you see this litter and trash everywhere," said Domenitz. "This is a question about recycling and litter in the environment."
"The problem with Question 2 is that it costs too much and does too little," said Giambusso. "It would add about $68 million a year to grocery costs - Because grocers are required to redeem containers at their stores. That means tremendous overhead costs."
