Republican Sen. Susan Collins is reiterating her intention to seek re-election but she says her "final decision" won't be made until closer to 2020.

Collins said Thursday that she remains focused on her job in the Senate as Congress enters a new year.

Critics have vowed to make Collins pay a political price for her vote to confirm the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Collins said she won't be intimidated by the crowd-sourced funding campaign against her.

She was first elected to the Senate in 1996, and won her last election by 37 points in 2014.

Her spokeswoman, Annie Clark, said her staff has "begun laying the groundwork and are preparing to run a vigorous campaign" should she choose to run.
