Wilfork: “Tom Brady is a Big Boy”

"Deflategate" was again a topic of conversation

Vince Wilfork

"Tom Brady is a big boy. He knows how to handle this with class," New England Patriots captain Vince Wilfork said of the "Deflategate" controversy on Friday.

Wilfork was the first of three Patriots captains to speak on Friday at Foxboro Stadium, followed by Devin McCourty and Dan Connolly.

For the second straight day, the first topic of discussion was the ongoing "Deflategate" controversy, which was also addressed by Coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady during their press conferences on Thursday. But unlike the day before, there was also talk Friday about the actual football game being played on Feb. 1.

"We're gonna do everything we can to win the ball game," Wilfork said. "It's gonna be tough, though."

When asked if he believes Brady, McCourty said, "Does it matter? I'm past all that."

The NFL is investigating after ESPN reported that the Patriots used under-inflated footballs in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. Brady said Thursday that he has not been contacted by the league.

Brady has denied altering the ball "in any way," saying that he would never break the rules. Belichick said he had "no explanation" for what happened, and like Brady said the first he heard of the entire ordeal was on Monday morning.
