    Damp Start, Mild Muggy Morning

Today (Tuesday): AM rain, PM sun. Highs 75-80. Overnight Tuesday Night: Clear, cool. Lows in the 50s. Wednesday: Pleasant sun. Highs 75-80. (Published Tuesday, June 11, 2019)

A wave of low pressure along a slow moving front is generating a wet start to our Tuesday.

Rainfall amounts in excess of 1 inch are common around New England this morning. The back edge of the rain is moving from west to east with sunshine advancing by mid-day for most of us, but not until late in the day for the state of Maine.

Wind may gust past 30 mph from the south ahead of the clearing line, and then gusting past 30 miles an hour from the west as the sun comes out and especially late in the day. The afternoon sunshine should boost the temperature well into the 70s for most of us, but staying in the 50s and 60s for Maine.

Mostly clear sky Tuesday night as strong high-pressure moves in to our west, low temperature in the 40s and 50s south, and 30s and 40s north. Beautiful day and sunshine on Wednesday. Wind will go light and variable with locally onshore breeze. High temperature will be in the 70s, 60s at the beach.

Another strong wave of low pressure will move along front from the middle Atlantic states to New England Thursday. The day may start dry, with sunshine north, but rain will advance quickly. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon.

We will be north of a warm front, which will be on the cool side. Wind from the east may gust past 30 mph and temperatures falling from the 60s into the 50s as rain moves in. There may be patchy dense fog, and also an afternoon thunderstorm with isolated wind damage.

Another high-pressure system will bring the sun back for Friday, high temperature in the 70s. But then another front comes into New England on the weekend with a chance of showers.

It’s still a ways off and hopefully we can fix that part of our Father's Day weekend forecast. Stay tuned to our First Alert 10-Day Forecast for the latest.
